International Film Festival of South Asia began on May 9 in Toronto, Canada. Already this festival has become international icon to film-lovers. To celebrate films of South Asian countries, this festival has been arranged. 150 films in 15 languages are being screened in 12-day festival. From Bangladesh this year popular TV actress and model Monalisa got the invitation to attend the festival as a guest. She has already got invitation letter from the organizers though she is now in USA.
While talking with Monalisa over mobile phone she told this correspondent from USA, “It is really an honourable matter for me to get the invitation to attend the festival. I am grateful to the organizers in this regard. It is really delightful for me to attend this fest as a cultural representative of Bangladesh. Everybody prays for me. Today I remember my mother. In fact, only for her I have come into present position.”
Monalisa also informed that on May 18 and 19, movies of Bengali languages will be screened in the festival. She will be present in these two days. Movies Pother Panchali, Titas Ekti Nodir Naam, Jonmobhumi, Iti Tomar-e Dhaka and short films Ekattorer Din, Abujhpona, etc will be screened. It is noted that last year Eid Monalisa came to Dhaka.
