Bangladesh Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dr Abul Kalam Abdul Momen expressed deep shock at the death of noted eye specialist and veteran freedom fighter Dr Shahabuddin Mahmud. Dr Mahmud is also brother of late journalist KG Mostafa, said a Bangladesh Mission press release received here from New York. In a condolence message, Dr AK Abdul Momen has also sought eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed deep sympathy to the members of the bereaved family.
Dr Shahabuddin Mahmud breathed his last due to cardiac arrest at USTC hospital last Saturday noon.
