Mohammedan split points with Brothers in goalless affair

Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Ltd split points with Brothers Union Club as their 2nd leg match of the Manyavar Bangladesh Premier Football League ended in a goalless draw at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Sunday.
After the day’s draw, the traditional black and white team Mohammedan advanced to the 3rd slot in the league table securing 27 points from 14 matches by virtue of better goal difference (15 goals). Dhaka Abahani Limited also bagged 27 points, but they were in the 4th slot with poor goal difference (13 goals).
Brothers Union Club remained at 5th slot with 25 points from 14 matches.
Holder Sheikh Jamal DC comfortably top the list collecting 33 points from 14 outings while Sheikh Russel KC followed the leader with 29 points from 14 encounters.
In the day’s match, Mohammedan SC came close to score in the 29th minute but a good shot of their Cameroonian forward Belinga Amabara missed the target for few inches.
Brothers had also managed a good chance in the 60th minute but their Nigerian forward Ezeodika Simon failed to take shot from close in one to one situation with Brothers goalie Biplob at his mercy.
In the 70th minute, Mohammedan’s Guinean forward Ismael Bangoura saw his shot fisting away by Brothers goalie Biplob and later Jewel took a rebound shot, which was saved by Biplob diving his left.
Mohammedan got golden opportunity to score in the 79th minute, but their winger Jewel shot the ball wide finding an open net.
