Dhaka University Model United Nations Association begins its 9th session on the theme of “Endorsing Freedom Through Consolidating United Efforts Towards Global Consonance” on Thursday.
The conference will continue for three days till 10th September at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university.
Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman, Vice-Chancellor of the university inaugurated the ceremony as chief guest presided over by Mohammad Ashiqul Islam, Secretary-General of DUNMUN.
UN Resident Coordi-nator in Bangladesh Gwyn Lewis and Dr Delwar Hossain, Moderator of DUMUNA ware presented at the ceremony as special guests. Dr Md. Enamul Haque, National Director of sos children’s villages in Bangladesh attended the ceremony as a Guest of Honor.
DU Vice-Chancellor urged the young generation to develop themselves into world-class skilled citizens with moral values and sense of responsibility. He said, “Sense of responsibility makes individual freedom meaningful.”
“Inclusive society for implementing SDGs should be built through mutual cooperation, exchange of views, development of diplomatic skills and creative activities,” Akhtaruzzaman added.
Around 500 students from Bangladesh and abroad are going to participate and practice their diplomatic skills in DUNMUN 2022. The conference is hosting 11 committees that are quite relevant to the present global scenario.
United Nations General Assembly Sixth Committee (Legal) and United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII)’s two new committees were introduced this time.
