Day long drives by a mobile court conducted by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-5 from 10 am till 10 pm on Thursday realised Tk 9,50,000 from five private diagnostic centres, clinics and hospitals and two hotels in Chapainawabganj sadar and Shibganj upazilas.
The mobile court led by the Chapainawabganj camp commander of RAB additional superintendent of police Md. Sakibul Islam Khan and executive magistrate from RAB head quarters Mohammad Anisur Rahman raided Jamjam Clinic and Diagnostic Centre and fined it Tk. 50,000, Al Madina Islami Hospital Tk. 2,00,000, Shibganj Nursing Home Tk.
1,00,000, Modern Hospital and Diagnostic Centre at Kansat in Shibganj upazila Tk. 50,000, Kansat General Hospital Tk. 50,000 for conducting the clinics and the hospitals in in-hygienic and dirty environment.
Again the mobile court conducted raids at Alauddin Hotel and
Restaurant at Udayan Square in Chapainawabganj town and Tamanna Sweets and Restaurant at Biswaroad Square in the town and fined them Tk. 4,00,000 and Tk. 1,00,000 respectively for preparing food in in-hygienic atmosphere and conducting unlicensed business.
Previously Alauddin Hotel and Restaurant was accused in a case were for serving adulterated food to the policemen in a meeting a few years ago. A number of policemen fell sick after taking that food, it was known.
The realized money was deposited with the government treasury, RAB sources said.
The mobile court also raided Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital, arrested seven brokers and sentenced each of them to seven days’ imprisonment for cheating and harassing patients.
The convicts are Md. Shamim Reza, 20, son of Md. Mozammel Hoque of Terorashia Khakchapara in sadar upazila, Abdur Rakib, 25, son of Bazlur Rahman of Goraipara under the same upazila, Asmaul Hoque, 26, son of Manjur Rahman of Hatnabad under Godagari upazila in Rajshahi district, Sanaullah, 26, son of Jamal Uddin of Namorajarampur under Chapainawabganj municipality, Golam Kabir, 27, son of Hasen Ali of
Sonapatti in the municipality, Firoj Kabir, 25, son of Ajaharul Biswas of Akandabaria in sadar upazila and Sabdul Hossain, 38, son of AlokAli of Masjidpara in Chapainawabganj town.
They were sent to the jail custody..
