Our Correspondent :
It has been alleged that an influential family is forcibly occupying the land of a Saudi expatriate at Gafargaon under Mymensingh. The accused have prepared the land for planting paddy saplings in 49 per cent of the land, ignoring the court’s ban.
According to the complaint, expatriate Lutfur Rahman, son of Chafir Uddin of Charipara village in Barbaria union of the upazila, bought 49 percent agricultural land from Lucky Akter in 2000 on the basis of registration. Lutfur Rahman’s family said that they are in possession of their property. Recently, an influential family from the same village is trying to occupy the agricultural land of this expatriate.
Sohag Mia, brother of expatriate Lutfur Rahman, said that despite the fact that BRS, records, parchas and rent submissions are all correct, neighbors Nurul Islam, Imran Kayesh and Ashikur Rahman are trying to grab the land through forgery by exerting local influence.
Although the local UP chairman reached a compromise through arbitration, he ignored it and uprooted the boundaries of our land. Last Friday and yesterday Saturday, he cultivated the land with a mulch (power trailer) and prepared it for planting. After investigating the matter, SI Manzur Rahman of Gafargaon Police Station issued Section 144 on August 16 seeking stay of the land in the complaint land through the Additional District Magistrate Court. The court issued notice to both the parties and fixed November 1 as the date for reply and report of the accused. Ignoring these, the accused neighbors are trying to occupy the land of the expatriates by spreading social influence.
When Imran Kayes was asked on his mobile phone why he had plowed another’s land, he refused to talk.
SI Manjur Rahman, the investigating officer of Gafargaon police station, said the court had issued section 144 on the expatriate’s land. If it is violated, the court will ensure justice.
