UNB, Dhaka :
A mobile court of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) fined 64 pedestrians Tk 4,065 as they were found crossing the road without using the foot overbridge at Housebuilding crossing of Uttara in the city on Wednesday.
DMP Executive Magistrate Moshiur Rahman carried out the mobile court from 11am against those found violating the rule that whenever a foot overbridge is within a certain distance, pedestrians must use it to cross roads.
Today’s initiative was undertaken to raise the awareness among pedestrians regarding the rule, said Deputy Commissioner (Traffic-North) Prabir Kumar Ray.
Mobile court activities will be further intensified at every important place under the Traffic North Division in future to encourage pedestrians to use foot overbridges instead of risking their lives trying to cross busy roads, Ray said.
