Mitu murder: Sakku denied bail

A Chattogram court yesterday denied bail to Saidul Islam Sikder alias Sakku in a case filed over killing Mahmuda Khanam Mitu.
Chattogram Metropolitan Sessions Judge Sheikh Ashfaqur Rahman passed the verdict on Thursday afternoon.
Prosecutor Fakhruddin Chowdhury said accused Saidul Islam Sikder alias Sakku, had applied for bail. At that time it was opposed by the state.
After the hearing, the judge denied the bail petition.
On the morning of June 5, three assailants stabbed and shot Mitu dead when she was taking her son to his school bus stop at GEC intersection in the port city.
Babul Akhter filed a murder case with Panchlaish police station over his wife’s murder. The case was being investigated by the city DB police. Later, in January last year, the case was handed over to PBI following the direction of the court.
After that, the nature of the case began to change. The PBI investigation has revealed various aspects of Babul Akhtar’s involvement in his wife’s murder. Mitu’s father Mosharraf Hossain filed a murder case against Babul Akter at Panchlaish police station on May 12 at noon. Apart from Babul Akhter, seven others were also charged in the case.
The other accused in the case are Kamrul Islam Sikder alias Musa, Ehtesamul Haque Bhola, Motaleb Mia alias Wasim, Anwar Hossain, Khairul Islam Kalu, Saidul Islam Sikder alias Sakku and Shahjahan Mia.
