The Netherlands completed their World Twenty20 6th edition campaign with a consolation 12-run victory against Ireland in the rain-interrupted six-over a side dead rubber Group-A battle at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala, India on Sunday.
Chasing a 60-run target, Ireland finished at 47 for 7 in six overs with the only double figure scorer Paul Stirling’s 15 off 7 balls including two sixes.
Anday McBrine added unbeaten 9 runs and skipper cum opener William Porterfield out for 5 runs.
Paul van Meekeren captured four wickets for 11 runs in two overs and was adjudged man of the match.
Roelef van der Merwe took two wickets for three runs in one over while Timm van der Gugten took one wicket for 17 runs also in one over.
Sent in to bat first, the Netherlands scored 59 runs for 5 wickets in six-over with opener Stephen Myburgh top-scoring 27 off 18 balls including five boundaries and was run out at 58/4 in 5.5 overs.
Skipper Peter Borren stayed for 14 off 9 balls involving three boundaries while Weslay Barresi added 8 runs off 5 balls including one over-boundary.
George Dockrell was successful grabbing three wickets for seven runs in two overs for the Netherlands, the side sent in to bat first.
The Netherlands conceded an 8-run defeat against Bangladesh in the first match and shared the match point with Oman in the 2nd match.
On the other camp, Ireland lost to Oman by 2 wickets in the first match and shared match points with Bangladesh.
