Mistakes put 63 JU students in trouble

JU Correspondent :A total of 63 Masters’ Course students of the Geography and Environment Department of Jahangirnagar University (JU) are in troubles, as the results of their honours’ examination had been revised twice on the ground of doing correction. “Most of the students of the batch have already applied for jobs, and got scholarships in different countries for higher education on the basis of the results published a year ago” said Rasik Iqbal of the batch.”But due to revised results, most of the students are facing troubles, as the score decreased contradicting their previous results. We fear there is a huge possibility of cancellation of our applications for difference of marks” said Krishna Proshad Mondal, one of the victims, who already got a scholarship in China.He said, “The authority published their honours result on February 10, 2014. But it has been revised twice after one year, retaining mistakes. The results are now sent to a probe committee for examination, as examination controller office also made mistake in preparing second results”.Though the result was scheduled to be published on February 27, it has not been done yet,’ Krishna Mondal said. Demanding previous results in force, the students of the 38th batch of the Geography and Environment department also threatened the authority to besiege the administrative building for indefinite term if their demands were not met within seven days.This was stated at a press conference in the office of Jahangirnagar University Journalists’ Association (JUJA) around 4:00pm on the campus. Admitting their mistakes, Ayub Ali, Deputy Controller of Examination of JU said that “The unintentional mistakes might happen at the time of tabulation and at typing”.
