IGP wants coop to curb crimes

BSS, Dhaka :Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque stressed on cooperation to curb the transitional crimes with coordinated initiatives, according to a message received here yesterday.”The transnational crime is a major threat in the world. It is not a problem of any single country. It is a global problem and we need coordinated initiatives to curb transnational crimes,” he said this at the United Nations Chief of Police Summit (UNCPS) at the UN headquarters in New York yesterday. Highlighting the activities of the Bangladesh police in the summit, Hoque said co-operation from different countries are needed to prevent such crimes, the message said. AKM Shahidul Hoque thanked the UN Under Secretary General for organizing this conference, where police chiefs from 105 countries participated in the summit, it added.The UNCPS conference was held in New York for the first time at the UN General Assembly Hall. The UN Deputy Under-Secretary General Jan Eliasson opened the conference on behalf of the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
