Missing BCL leader found dead in Savar

Police on Monday morning recovered the body of a local leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) who went missing when a boat capsized after being hit by a sand-laden trawler in the Bongshi river in Bank Town area of the upazila on Saturday evening.
The victim was identified as Didarul Arefin Pinak, former joint general secretary of Ashulia unit of BCL and son of Abdul Malek, a resident of Arpara area in the municipality.
Police recovered the body from the river in the morning, said Rasel Sheikh, assistant
superintendent of Savar Model Police Station.
Earlier, the boat carrying five BCL leaders capsized in the area in the evening after being hit by a trawler on Saturday evening. They were returning home after a boat journey from Keraniganj.
Four other BCL leaders managed to swim ashore, but Pinak and the boatman went missing after the incident.
