Mina stampede: Ministry confirms 26 BD Hajis` death

UNB, Dhaka :The Foreign Ministry here on Tuesday confirmed the identifications of 26 Bangladesh nationals killed in the recent Mina stampede in Saudi Arabia.”According to the latest report received from Bangladesh Embassy in Saudi Arabia, 26 dead bodies have so far been identified as Bangladesh pilgrims at the central mortuary in Makkah,” the ministry said in a media release.As reported, Saudi authorities are yet to release the photos of all the dead bodies of the victims of Mina incident.They will release more photos and particulars of dead bodies for identification soon, and the actual number of casualties of Bangladesh pilgrims might increase, said the Foreign Ministry.Out of 26, names of 13 have been found and the remaining 13 are yet to be identified, it said.Relatives, accompanying pilgrims and hajj agents of the missing pilgrims have been requested to contact Bangladesh Hajj Mission at Makkah (Room No 107, phone- 00966-(0)125413980, [email protected]) with a view to helping identify the dead bodies.Officials of Bangladesh Consulate General in Jeddah along with the officials of Bangladesh Hajj Mission in Makkah and the medical and administrative team for Hajj are working to identify the dead bodies of the deceased pilgrims as well as to ensure the proper treatment of the injured pilgrims in different hospitals in Makkah and Jeddah. Some 33 Bangladesh pilgrims are admitted to different hospitals for treatment.
