“Metro rail construction work up to Agargaon will be completed within 2019 and the entire work from Uttara third phase to Motijheel will be completed by 2020,” said Quader, also general secretary of the ruling Awami League.
The minister told these to reporters after signing of a contract with four companies for a package of 5 and 6 of Metro Rail project at a city hotel yesterday.

Obaidul said, “We were behind six months back for the Holy Artisan Tragedy. But it did not discourage the construction companies. Six Japanese were killed in the Gulshan attack, among them six were engaged in survey of Metro Rail project.”
The work of the Metro Rail project is divided into eight packages.
The cost of implementing the metro rail project has been estimated to be
about 22 billion taka. Of this, Japan’s JICA will pay Tk 16,595 crore while the government will provide Tk 5,399 crore.
