Dhaka Dynamites registered a massive 68-run victory over Rajshahi Kings in their match of the AKS Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Twenty20 Cricket at the Sher-e-Banglga National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Saturday.
Sent into bat first, Dhaka Dynamites piled up a mammoth total of 201 for the loss of seven wickets and then they bundled out Rajshahi Kings for 133 off 18.2 overs.
Dhaka Dynamites made a solid start as openers Ewin Lewis and Shahid Afridi contributing together 53 runs before Shahid Afridi (15) was bowled out by Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
Lewis top-scored with 64. His 38-ball typhoon innings was laced with 10 fours and a sixer. It was Ewin’s 18th T20 half-century.
After Afridi’s dismissal, Jahurul Islam arrived at the crease but his innings was short-lived as he (13) was bowled out by Mehidy Hasan Miraz when Dhaka’s score was 75 for the loss of two wickets.
Then Ewin Lewis was caught at the deep midwicket by Mominul Haque off Hossain Ali when Dhaka’s total was 99 for the loss of three wickets.
Second-down Nadif Chowdhury (6) was stumped out by Mushfiqur Rahim off Habibur Rahman when the team’s score was 99 for the loss of four wickets.
Fourth-down Shakib Al Hasan ( 11) was caught at the deep midwicket by Habibur Rahman off Samit Patel when Dhaka’s total was 124 for the loss of five wickets.
Then Kumar Sagakkara and Kieron Pollard built another notable partnership. They put on together 62 runs for the sixth wicket stand before Sangakkara was caught at the third man by Habibur Rahman off Samit Patel when Dhaka’s score was 186 for the loss of six wickets.
Pollard remained unbeaten with 52. 25-ball stormy innings was belted with three fours and five fours. It was Pollard’s 39th T20 half century.
Sangakkara made 28 from 22 balls featuring three fours.
Hossain Ali of Rajshahi Kings got three wickets conceding 38 runs, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz bagged a pair of wickets at the cost of 32 runs.
Besides, Samit Patel and Habibur Rahman took one wicket each for 18 and 43 runs respectively.
Later, most of the batsmen of Rajshahi Kings failed to resist tight and controlled bowling attack of Dhaka Dynamites.
Zakir Hasan of Rajshahi Kings fought back making 36. His 23-ball knock was decorated with five fours and a six.
Shahid Afridi of Dhaka Dynamites played the key role in demolishing Rajshahi innings with a good support of Abu Hider and Shakib Al Hasan.
Afridi captured four wickets at the cost of 26 runs, while Abu Hider grabbed three wickets instead of 11 runs and Shakib Al Hasan bagged a couple of wickets at the cost pf 22 runs.
Besides, Mohammad Saddam took one wicket for 19 runs.
Ewin Lewis was adjudged the Man of the Match.
