Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said both the mass media and information technology (IT) make the society transparent.
“As a result, there is no place for spreading out rumors, falsehoods, character assignation and information distortion in the cyber world,” he said this on Wednesday while addressing the PIB-Sohel Samad Memorial Award-2018 distribution ceremony in the city.
The minister urged the mass media to raise their voice against conspiracies to protect the offenders by terming the cases of corruption and burning people and killings as political cases.
Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) organized the programme at its seminar hall in the city.
PIB Management Board Member and honorary Professor of DU Mass Communication and Journalism (MCJ) Department Dr Shakhawat Ali Khan presided over the function while Jatiya Press Club President Shafiqur Rahman addressed it as the special guest.
DU MCJ Department Chairman Kaberi Gayen, Editor of the Dainik Bhorer Kagoj Shyamal Dutta and PIB Director General Md Shah Alamgir addressed the function as guests of honor.
Access to Information (a2i) programme of the Prime Minister’s Office was given the award this year for its great contribution to the field of Information and Communication Technology.
