Manmohan positive for resolving Teesta, LBA issues

The India government is cordial to resolve Teesta waters sharing and land boundary agreement issues with Bangladesh.
Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh expressed his Congress government’s will to Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Thursday over the issues during meeting that took place at Manmohan’s official residence in New Delhi.
In the meeting, Shirin sought Manmohan’s assistance for a resolution to
sharing Teesta waters. She also sought a resolution to the Land Boundary Agreement (LBA) issue, a handout of the information ministry said on Thursday.
Manmohan, in reply, assured Shirin of these issues saying that his government is seriously considering the matters.
An all-out effort including a political consensus has been undertaken, the Indian premier said.
Manmohan Singh congratulated Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on her second consecutive term as the speaker of parliament in Bangladesh.
He said India’s relations with Bangladesh are excellent at the moment and will continue and expand in the future.
Manmohan said trade deficit between the two countries are coming down and the government of both countries will have to lead for further alleviating the business gap.
He congratulated Bangladeshi government’s moves for the security of the citizens, including the Hindu minority, after the January 5 election.
