BSS, Dhaka :Speakers at a discussion yesterday gratefully recalled the glorious role of Tofazzal Hossain Manik Mia, a doyen in the field of journalism.An uncompromising personality in journalism, Manik Mia raised his voice against all sorts of injustice, oppression and deprivation through his powerful writings, they told the discussion at the Jatiya Press Club here on the occasion of 46th death anniversary of Manik Mia, a press release said .The discussants also said Manik Mia, one of the leading votaries of democracy, who fought relentlessly against all odds and adversities for the emancipation of common people, never failed to use his mighty pen against oppression and violation of democratic and human rights.Former Environment and Forest Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, Lawmaker Advocate Talukdar Md Yunus, former Managing Director and Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha(BSS) Azizul Islam Bhuiyan, Awami League leaders Advocate Bolram Poddar, MA Karim, general secretary of Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote Arun Sarkar Rana, Chairman of NAP Bhashani Mostaq Ahmed Bhasani, General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami Muktijuddha Projanma League Advocate Rokon Uddin Pathan and General Secretary of Bangamata Parishad Journalist Anisur Rahman, among others, addressed the discussion with President of Manik Mia Parishad Siraj Uddin Ahmed in the chair.President of Jatiya Gonotantrik League MA Jalil conducted the discussion.Hasan Mahmud said powerful writings of journalist Manik Mia motivated freedom-loving people of Bangladesh with Bangalee nationalism to join the War of Liberation in 1971. “We got an independent Bangladesh under dynamic leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujubur Rahman,” he added.
