Chittagong Bureau :Local legislator of Banskhali constituency of Chittagong Mostafizur Rahman Chowdhury said every family who killed in the bloody clash of Banskhali tragedy will get compensation of Tk.10 lakh each and the injured will get better treatment with required financial supports. He disclosed it while addressing the media men on Thursday at his city residence in Baizid area . After tragic incident at Banskahli , the lawmaker was giving his reaction after 3 days on Thursday.He told the journalists that Government is taking effective measures to compensate the victims and injured accordingly and will rehabilitee the evictees from the areas of the proposed power plant areas. To answer the questions of the journalists, lawmaker blamed the BNP leader and former UP chairman Liaquat Ali for the unexpected tragedy that killed 4 persons and several injured .He said the said BNP leader aimed at personal gain instigated the local villagers aiming turning the situation unstable. He said these misunderstandings will be resolved very shortly. To witness the situation, a team of south district Awami league visited the Gandamara village, he added. He said a vested quarters is trying to jeopardize the master plans of the country under the present ruling party.Local legislator also blamed Liakat for the unfortunate clash at Gandamara.He said that the owner of the plant screened a documentary film on the construction of the coal-based power plant which had satisfied the local people.Moreover, the local lawmaker said, majority people of the area supported this project and he claimed that the plant would be an eco-friendly project. So, he favoured the construction of the plant for development of the locality which would create job opportunities for more than 5,000 people. He also claimed that the construction works began a long time back. But the clash on Monday that killed 4 persons and several injured were unfortunate, he opined.He said S Alam Group had purchased the land paying fair price of the land in 2014. Former chairman Liaqat Ali is opposing the project from very inception of the project planning, he added. Banskhali Upazila AL Secretry Abdul Gafur read out the written statement before the newsmen . Among others, Poura Mayor Banskhali Municipality Selimul Hoque Chowdhury, President of Upazila Mahila AL Rehana Chowdhury, Organisaing Secretary of Upazila AL Mohiuddin Chowdhury were present on the occasion. ASP of Satkania Circle Police of Chittagong AKM Imran Bhuyian told that the situation in Gandamara village is normal and additional forces have been deployed to avoid any unwanted incidents further. This mega power project is being built with the technical assistance of China at a cost of Tk.20 thousand crores over 600 acres of land with generation capacity of 1320 MW power, sources said. This joint venture power project will hold share 70% of S. Alam Group and 30% of Chinese construction firm, sources added. Oil, Gas Protection Committee team visits in Banskhali A 10-member team of Oil, Gas Protection National Committee arrives Banskhali in Chittagong yesterday to witness the prevailing situation of Gandamara clash where killed 4 persons protesting the establishment of coal fired power plant in private sector.Mentionable that 4 persons were killed in clash between police and the villagers on Monday last. After Juma prayer the leaders of the OGPNC addressed the local villagers at Gandamara Hadipara Govt Pry School ground yesterday. Convenor of the committee Dr. Anu Muhammad and the former advisor to the caretaker govt Sultana Kamal also addressed the public rally. Different sources said procession, counter procession, chase and counter chase frequently occurred for the last few days in the area centring the coal fired power plant.
