Now Mahmudul Islam Mithu is one of the popular names in both small and big screens by virtue of his outstanding acting skill. In cultural arena, he is known to all as Boroda Mithu. But this name was called by everyone when he was living in his village in Rajbari. During that time he was engaged with politics and cultural activities there. Then he came to Dhaka and also maintained his name Boroda Mithu among all.
Two decades ago, Mithu came into spotlight to act in story film Dhaner Kabbyo, based Kazi Shahed Ali’s story titled Fosol Tolar Golpo. In big screen, Mithu came into limelight to act in Malek Afsari’s Antorjwala. He played in role of a ‘tough-minded’ father in the film. In big screen, Mithu was first seen in Mostafizur Rahman Babu-directed movie Jibon Mane Juddho. His first acted TV play was Minhazur Rahman Minhaz’s Tomoso. Songsar Japon was his acted first drama serial.
Mithu-starrer and Shamim Ahmed Roni-directed movie Shahen Shah is going to release today. He acted in an important role in this movie. He is very much optimistic about this film. Now he is acting in Shamim Ahmed Roni’s movie Bikkhobh, Bodiul Alam Khokon’s Agoon and Aamar Maa Aamar Behesth.
However, Mithu is overwhelmed for last few days to act in Sokal Ahmed-directed drama serial Khanbari Barabari because title of the serial named after him.
He is acting in role of father of Parsa Evana, Kajol Suborno, Mim Chowdhury and Samantha in this serial. Acting in father’s role, he has really become a father on the screen. While talking in this regard he said, “To come into present position, cameraman Golam Mostafa, Minhazur Rahman Minhaz and some younger brothers of Sreemangal have a lot of contribution in this regard. There is also contribution of people of Rajbari. I will never forget their contributions.”
