Times Now Digital, New Delhi :
Army chief General Bipin Rawat has said that illegal migrants who have entered the country illegally over the course of time should be deported. In an exclusive interview with Times Now’s Editor-in-Chief Rahul Shivshankar, the Army chief said that he supports National Register of Citizens and added that parties who were protesting against it were undermining national security.
“People who are residing in India illegally should absolutely be deported. If they are legal, they need to be amalgamated. But then that amalgamation must happen in a way that it should be beneficial for everybody,” he said.
Rawat also accused certain political parties of helping the illegals stay in the country and added that few organizations’ are helping to integrate them into the system. “There are others who have come in illegally and do not have citizenship, but there are some people who are trying to secure citizenship,” he said.
In February speaking at a seminar on ‘North East Region of India – Bridging Gaps and Securing Borders’, organised by the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies and Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff of the Ministry of Defence, General Rawat
