The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department has seized a luxury Rolls Royce car imported with tax evasion of Tk 24 crore.
On Wednesday (July 6) afternoon, the Joint Director of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department Shamsul Arefin Khan confimed the matter to the media.
According to customs documents, the car was imported from Vertex Automotive Limited of the United Kingdom on May 17 by Z&Z Intimates Limited, a company in the Chittagong EPZ area.
The import document showed the value of the car being approxiately 200,000 British Pounds (US $240,000). An import LC was opened with Mutual Trust Bank for the import of the car.
Although the car was imported 70 days ago, the Chinese-owned company did not pay any customs duty.
