DU rape victim released from DMCH

The Dhaka University rape victim student who was physically harassed in the Dhaka’s Kurmitola area has been released from hospital.
On Thursday noon, AKM Nasiruddin, Director of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) has said that the victim girl is doing better now and is in sound condition.
The medical board, which was formed for her treatment, decided to release her on Thursday after reviewing her condition, Director added, saying even we have told the girl to come to the hospital

if she feels sick or faces problems. She will get our highest support, he also said.
Earlier, according to the case filed by the victim’s father, the second-year DU student was followed by an unknown person after she left the university’s bus at Kurmitola stoppage on Sunday.
Accused then dragged her into a bush at nearby secluded place and raped her sometime between 7 and 8 pm.
The suspect also took away the victim’s mobile phone, a watch, a bag and Tk 2,000 in cash, according to the case details.
After she regained consciousness to 10pm, she visited her friend’s house by autorickshaw and told her about the incident.
Hearing the unfortunate story, her classmates arrived and took her to the university’s hall and was admitted to the DMCH after midnight.
On Tuesday, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a suspect, identified as Majnu, 30, from the capital’s Shewra rail crossing at Kurmitola.
According to the elite force, the suspect confessed during primary interrogation while the victim identified him seeing a photograph.
