losing streak continues on DSE

The losing streak continued on Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) Sunday when the market indices closed the day lower. Market returned to negative territory last week after rise in the previous week.
DSEX, the broader index, finished the day 41.02 points lower at 4431.10, with the blue-chip DS30 finishing 6.25 percent lower at 1696.80 and the Shariah DSES 4.13 percent lower at 1084.66.
The daily trade volume and value, however, increased on higher activities. Some six crore shares worth Taka 311 crore were traded on the day against 5.36 crore shares valued at Taka 274 crore on the previous session.
Out of the traded 308 issues, 249 incurred loss when only 35 gained and 24 remained unchanged.
Saiham Cotton, PF1stMF, Apex Spinning and BSRM Steel were the top five advancing issues of the day when the major losers were First Security Islami Bank, Meghna Pet, Aziz Pipes, Zaheen Spinning and Northern Jute.
