Coordination meet of NOGs held in Kishoreganj

CARE Bangladesh supported by CARE International, an American based donor agency, POPI NGO and District Administration jointly arranged a district Shauhardo- III Co-ordination Committee meeting at Kishoreganj Collectorate Conference Room on Thursday noon.Deputy Commissioner Md. Azimuddin Biswas attended as Chief Guest while Deputy Secretary of Local Government Md Zahirul Islam presided over the meeting. It was addressed among others by ADC (Gen) Torafder Md. Akhter Jamil, ADM Md. Abdul Awal, CARE Bangladesh Regional Cordination Subrata Kumar Shaha, Project Manager Tamizuddin, POPI Project Manager Md. Toufique, Family Planning Medical Officer Dr. Roushan Akhter Jahan, Senior Megistrate Abul Hasem, Senior Programme Manager Kamrun Naher and CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito. Deputy Commissioner Md. Azimuddin Biswas said that the main goal of Shouhardo- III programee is to sustainable reduce food insecurity among the poor and extremely poor households. The program is applying an integrated model for reducing child malnutrition while contributing to the household, livelihood, security and women’s empowerment sustainable goals.
Jhenaidah students form human chain demanding rail line

Hundreds of students formed an hour long human chain in front of Jhenaidah government degree college on Saturday morning demanding railway line in Jhenaidah. The human chain continued till 11.00 am of the day. The students said, there was a railway line in Jhenaidah town which was closed due to an unknown reason a long ago. Since then the people of the district make their communications in alternative ways. The industrialization and other development activities were hampered in the district for want of a railway line. They urged upon the authorities to install railway line in Jhenaidah at an early date for socio-economic and cultural development of Jhenaidah. A number of teachers and civil society members remain present during the human chain.
Body of woman found in Kushtia

The body of the young woman was recovered from Kushtia Government College ground on Wednesday morning. On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body. Locals said, they found the body of a young woman aged 30 to 32 lying on the football playground of Kushtia Government College in the morning.
The officer-in-charge of Kushtia Model Police Station Nasir Uddin said, the body bore mark of injuries of throat and chin. He said she might have been on the night of Tuesday elsewhere and left here later. The reason behind the killing could not be known as yet. The identity of the ill-fated woman could not be ascertained immediately. The body was sent to Kushtia Hospital for post mortem.
