The government has extended the ongoing restrictions till the midnight of May 30 to face the Corona epidemic.
However, even though the lockdown increases, all types of public transport, including long-distance buses and launches, will be able to operate with half the passengers at this time.
Besides, people can also eat at the hotels and restaurants in a limited range.
This information was given through a notification from the Ministry of Public Administration on Sunday noon.
In the notification, all kinds of public transports, including inter-district buses, have been allowed to operate carrying passengers with 50 percent of their capacity.
All passengers, drivers and helpers will have to wear masks and maintain health guidelines.
Besides, the restaurants can serve customers with 50 percent of their capacity.
Earlier, the Cabinet Division had recommended extending the ban for another seven days till May 31. A proposal in this regard was sent to the Prime Minister’s Office for approval.
The National Technical Advisory Committee was also in favour of extending the restrictions.
In this context, the President of the National Technical Advisory Committee, Prof. Mohammad Shahidullah told the media that our main focus is taking the utmost efforts of the government to comply with the hygiene rules. There is danger if we don’t follow the hygiene rules.
Vaccination activities should be intensified. Our target is to provide about 12 crore vaccines. It must be confirmed, he said.
There is still a growing fear of corona due to the situation during Eid journey. We have been at risk for the whole of June since the last week of this month, he further said.
A seven-day lockdown began on April 5 across the country to curb the rise of Covid-19 infections and deaths.
After a two-day break at the end of the lockdown, the eight-day strict lockdown started on April 14.
That period ended at midnight of April 21. However, the lockdown was extended until midnight on April 28 as the corona infection situation did not improve. The lockdown was later extended to May 5.
After that, at the cabinet meeting on May 3, it was decided to increase the lockdown again and maintain it till May 16.
