Staff Reporter: Information Minister and Joint General Secretary of Awami League, Dr. Hasan Mahmud on Tuesday said that India’s contribution in the liberation war of Bangladesh will never be forgotten.
“The then Indian prime minister Indira Gandhi tried with her utmost efforts for Bangladesh’s liberation. Not only that, she also flied about 30 countries for creating pressures on Pakistan for be refrained from hanging Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” Hasan Mahmud said while addressing a seminar in the National Press Club organized by Indian Media Correspondents Association Bangladesh-IMCAB, titled ‘Bangabandhu: the relations between Bangladesh and India.
Our independence has been gotten its fulfillers through Bangabandhu’s releasing from Pakistani jail, the minister said.
India’s high commissioner in Bangladesh Vikram Doraiswami said in the function that the base of the relationship among the two countries has been grown during the Bangabandhu’s era.
“Bangabandhu shown us that which to do about this relationship, there is no need anything new guidelines in this regards,” the Indian envoy said.
Senior journalist Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, President of National Press Club, Farida Yasmin, former President of BFUJ Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul and President of DUJ, Quddus Afrad, among others, were present.
IMCAB President Basudeb Dhar presided over the seminar. Freedom fighter and senior journalist Harun Habib presented the keynote at the seminar.
