‘Light engineering sector should be moved forward’

Industries Secretary KM Ali Azam said that the light engineering sector should be moved forward through integrating it with modern technology.
He also said that it is possible to unleash development in this light engineering sector through utilizing talents and skills.
The Industries Secretary said this on Thursday while addressing an inter-ministerial meeting virtually as chair to review the progress on the recommendations of the Industries Ministry taken to flourish this sector.
Azam stressed the need for creating skilled manpower and managers in the light engineering sector through Bangladesh Industrial Technical Assistance Center (BITAC).
In this regard, he emphasized on creating time befitting education curriculum.
The Industries Secretary said the light engineering sector is now the most potential sectors of the country while there is a need to ensure planned flourishment of this sector to materialize the goal of turning Bangladesh into an industrially developed country.
For this, there is a need to build more industrial parks and research firms side by side increasing facilities for imparting improved training.
