A tribunal here on Wednesday found a private tutor, Tofazzal Hossain Hira, guilty of the 2010 rape of a school girl, and sentenced him to life in prison.
Hira, now 29, is son of Abdul Latif of Falda Dokkhinpara village in Bhuapur upazila of the district, was also fined Tk 20,000, in default, to suffer six months’ more imprisonment.
According to the case statement, the convict violated a school girl on March 1, 2010.
Victim’s father filed a case at Bhuapur Police Station.
Police submitted a chargesheet against him after investigation.
After examining the records and witnesses, Tangail Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Sharif Uddin Ahmed handed down the verdict.
