LGED implements Tk 10,000 cr projects in Rajshahi

Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) has implemented development projects at a cost of around Taka 10,000 crore in eight districts under Rajshahi division in last three years, said its Chief Engineer Shyama Proshad Adhikary here on Saturday.
He added that work on 25 other projects and one programme is being executed with an estimated cost of around Taka 2,500 crore in the division at present benefiting the rural people.
Shyama Proshad Adhikary revealed this while addressing a review workshop on the ongoing development projects in Rajshahi and Bogra regions at Shilpakala Academy auditorium in Rajshahi metropolis.
More than 550 divisional, district and upazila level engineers from the two regions joined the workshop disseminating their activities and progress.
Additional Chief Engineers Anwar Hossain, Joynal Abedeen and Ali Ahmed,
Superintending Engineers Nur Muhammad and Golam Kibria and Executive Engineer
Golam Mostofa also spoke.
Chief Engineer Shyama Proshad Adhikary asked the field level engineers to
discharge their duties with utmost sincerity, honesty and patriotic zeal so
that the target group people can derive total benefits of all the projects.
“You have to meet up local demands, remain close contact with elected
public representative and earn people trust,” he reminded them.
Terming the LGED as a pioneer development project implementing entity at
present, he urged his fellows to become a part of achieving the sustainable
development goals.
Now, the country is on the highway of development and the LGED engineers
should take the responsibility of taking the nation forward spontaneously.
Referring to his bifocal accountability Engineer Adhikary said transparency
and accountability must be ensured in all the works and warned disciplinary
action will be taken against those who will be found guilty.
“I will hand over the corrupt officials to Anti-Corruption Commission
without any hesitation,” he added.
