Police recovered the body of a freedom fighter and veteran lawyer four days after he reportedly went missing from his residence in Tangail.
Local sources said that the body of Mia Mohammad Hasan Ali Reza was floating in the river near the municipality, around 11:30am Saturday.
The victim Hasan Ali,76, a freedom fighter and central committee member of Krishak Sramik Janata League, went missing after leaving his Sabalia Panjapara home from Monday.
A CCTV footage collected afterwards shows that Hasan was on a motorcycle with a helmeted and raincoat clad rider.
A General Diary (GD) was filed with Tangail Sadar Police Station on Tuesday.
Sayedur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tangail Police Station confirmed the matter to media that police recovered the body being informed by locals and later the deceased’s son Rashedul Hasan Tito identified it as his father’s body.
