Kazi Zahidul Hasan :
Observers and security analysts on Friday urged the law enforcing agencies to be more active in providing safety and security of the common people in the wake of rising cases of abduction, kidnapping and secret killing across the country.
Terming the recent spat of abduction as the failure of law enforcing agencies, they also raised question about the competency not only the police but also other law enforcing agencies.
“This could be genuine failure of the law-enforcing agencies implying that their competency, sincerity and institutional capacity have shortcomings for which they are failing,” security analyst Major General (retd) Mohammad Ibrahim, told The New Nation yesterday.
He added: It could also be a camouflaged failure of the same law enforcing, implying that the agencies could, in reality, perform the job successfully,
but they are being restrained from doing so because of political motives in the mind of the political rules in the present Bangladesh.
The present conspicuous in ability or failure of the agencies raised question in the mind of observers as to their reputation also,” said General Ibrahim.
“So, it was publicized that they could do anything but now they are doing nothing. Summery is, ether the law enforcing agencies wake up to meet their challenges or they will be force to meet wrath of the common suffering people,” he noted.
Many said, the recent abductions, disappearances and murder spree has created panic among the people but the law-enforcing agencies are yet to identify the perpetrators.
They are under cover killers and they are working for the powerful people of the society, they said.
They also alleged that a section of law enforcers may have a close nexus with many of the under world groups and this is because they are carrying our series of kidnapping under the nose of the security agencies.
As the people have no place to go but to renew the plea that the network of such criminal groups must be destroyed and save public life. And to ensure safety and security of the people they also asked the law enforcers to be more serious and active to save the lives of the common people.
