Letter to Speaker: Latif wants to join next JS session

Former Jute and Textiles Minister Abdul Latif Siddiqui has sent a letter to the Speaker of the National Parliament seeking permission to take part in the upcoming Parliament session, which is scheduled to begin on January 19, official sources said.
 Latif Siddiqui said in the letter that he did not get bail from the court. “I am an elected Member of Parliament. So, I like to join the upcoming Parliament session.
Sources said that Siddiqui sent the letter through the Senior Jail Super on Monday. The jail authorities sent it to the Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday.
Secretary of Parliament Secretariat Ashraful Maqbul on Wednesday said, if any Member of the Parliament is in jail for any reason whatever, he or she must take permission from the court.
Siddique was removed from the cabinet and the ruling Awami League for his derogatory remarks about Hajj and Tablig Jamaat in New York on September 28.
