Khulna University (KU) authorities on Monday suspended five students of its Social Science Discipline from all activities on the campus for six months and fined them Tk 10,000 each for harassing a number of freshers.
The suspended students are: Ishrat Jahan Setu, Naznin Akhter Rita, Umme Habiba Sohana, SM Sazzad Hossain Rajan and Abdullah Al Mamun.
Besides, seven other students were fined with Tk 10,000 each in connection with the harassment of freshers.
The Disciplinary Board of the university gave the decision based on a report of the investigation committee formed following the incidents of harassment of and misconduct with the freshers of the Social Science Faculty.
