Greater Dhaka Journalists’ Forum
The annual general meeting of Greater Dhaka Journalists’ Forum was held at the Jatiya Press Club in the city on Monday. In the meeting a 15-member executive committee of the Forum was formed with BSS Chief Editor and Managing Director Abul Kalam Azad as its President, journalist Shahin Chowdhury General Secretary and journalist Ataur Rahman as its Treasurer. In the programme Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal was present as the chief guest. While speaking the minister called upon journalists to play their role with responsibility and refrain from publishing any subversive news. He said those who had tried to kill Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina 19 times are also the principal patrons of militancy and conspiracy. The defeated forces of 1971 and 1975 hatching conspiracy to hinder the progress of the country, he added. The minister once again reiterated that there was no IS (Islamic State) in Bangladesh. The event was also addressed, among others, by Advocate Sanjida Khanam, MP. Journalist Farid Hossain presided over the function.
Bangabandhu Gabeshana Parishad
A discussion and Doa Mahfil on 86th birth anniversary of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib organised by Bangabandhu Gabeshana Parishad was held at Red Chilli Restaurant in the city’s Topkhana Road on Monday. In the discussion the speakers said Sheikh Fazilatunnessa was the source of inspiration of all the works of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The participants prayed for the salvation of her departed soul. The programme was addressed, among others, by President of the parishad Lion Gani Miah Babul, its Vice-President Nurul Islam Talukder, Education and Cultural Secretary of the organisation Advocate Mokhlesur Rahman, its Office Secretary Abdur Razzak and Sports Secretary Azizur Rahman Bhuiyan.
