Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, MP, yesterday said that trial of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia would be held under Special Tribunal within the tenure of this government for killing people and carrying out atrocity across the country.
“Begum Zia must be tried for killing people brutally by pouring petrol and hurling cocktails,” he said while speaking at a view-exchange meeting after inaugurating a Freedom Fighter’s Complex at Bangabandhu Municipality Super Market here.

Commander of District Freedom Fighter Command Abdur Razzak Sardar, the meeting was also addressed, among others, by Coordinator of the Investigation Agency of the International Crimes Tribunal Bangladesh Mohammad Abdul Hannan Khan, Project Director of 64 Districts Freedom Fighter’s Complex Project Mahmood Hasan, Deputy Commissioner of the district Ram Chandra Das, Superintendent of Police Saifullah Al Mamun and general secretary of district Awami League Anal Kumar Dey.
The minister said the BNP-Jamaat nexus involved in arson and petrol bomb attacks, militancy and terrorism as well as killing of people. He said the next general polls would be held under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government after tenure of the present government in 2019. He said, “Pakistan has now become a failed state, but Bangladesh under the dynamic leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina turned a progressive and digital country.”
