Awami League (AL) Dr Hasan Mahmud said here on Tuesday BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia took the path of falsehood to save her party from being isolated from the people.
“Khaleda Zia realized the popularity of BNP has reached at the lowest level after defeating in the Nayaranganj City Corpoiration (NCC) polls. So, she took the path of falsehood to safe BNP from being isolated from the people,” he told this at a press conference at political office of AL President Sheikh Hasina at Dhanmondi here.
The press conference was arranged to give reply to the recent remarks made by Khaleda Zia at the anniversary programme of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) on January 1.
“BNP has became isolated with killing people and damaging public and private properties with carrying out petrol bomb attcks,” he said, adding that 251 people were killed, 3,086 suffered critical injuries and 3,252 vehicles were damaged in the arson attacks of BNP in the name of movement in 2013, 14 and 15.
Terming BNP as a patron of the anti-liberation war element Jamaat-Shibir, he said, “We suspect that Jamaat is involved in the killing of Gaibandha-1 constituency lawmaker Manzurul Islam Liton.”
Among others, AL’s agriculture affair secretary Faridun Nahar Laily, relief and social welfare secretary Sujit Roy Nandi, science and technology affairs secretary Engineer Abdus Sabur, deputy publicity secretary Aminul Islam, deputy office secretary Barrister Biplob Barua and central committee member Anwar Hossain were present on the occasion.
