UNB, Dhaka :BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia sat in a meeting with the top leaders of her party-led 20-party alliance on Wednesday night ahead of her London visit. The meeting began at the BNP chief’s Gulshan office at 8:45pm pm with Khaleda in the chair. This is the first meeting of the BNP-led combine after it started the anti-government movement on January 6 this year with a countrywide transport blockade programme.Khaleda last met her alliance leaders on November 22, 2014. Party leaders said Khaleda with the 20-party leaders will discuss various issues, including the current political situation, their next course of action and political strategy, and evaluate the pervious action programmes.According to the sources, the meeting is very significant as it is being held before the BNP chief’s visit to London this week to receive medical treatment and meet her eldest son and party senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman. Tarique has been staying in the UK for the last seven years.A top alliance leader, wishing anonymity, said they are also likely to discuss the alliance’s position over the polls-time government as Khaleda Zia and BNP leaders have repeatedly said they want a national election under a non-party administration, no matter in which name it will be called. Another leader said Khaleda is holding the meeting with the alliance leaders to take their opinions on various issues that she will discuss with her son during her London tour.
