BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia distributed cooked foods among the poor at the city’s 15 spots for the third and final day on Wednesday in observance of the 35th death anniversary of party founder and her husband Ziaur Rahman.
She started the social charity service from Mohakhali Community
Centre at around 12:15pm. Later, she distributed foods at Tejgaon, FDC gate, in front of Karwanbazar Pragati Tower, Mirpur’s Martyred Intellectuals Memorial, Shah Ali Mazar, National Bank School, Anik Plaza, and Shewrapara Bus Stand, Khlikhet, Uttara’s Amir Complex, Natunbazar’s Bhatara, Madhya Badda’s Mollapara and Rampura’s Al Amin Market.
BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas, vice chairman Selima Rahman and chairperson’s adviser Abdul Awal Mintoo, among others, accompanied Khaleda during the food distribution. As party of a three-day programme taken by Dhaka city unit BNP on the occasion of Zia’s death anniversary, the BNP chief distributed foods at 31 spots of the city on Monday and eight spots on Tuesday. On May 30, 1981, Zia was assassinated by a group of army officers at Chittagong Circuit House.
