A five-wicket haul by Alok Kapali saw Gazi Group cricketers to earn an overwhelming eight-wicket victory over Kalabagan Cricket Academy in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL) held on Saturday at the BKSP ground in Savar.
Chasing a winning target of 187 runs set by Kalabagan, Gazi Group hardly had to swat as they reached home in 40.2 overs with eight wickets in hand.
Opener Shamsur Rahman steered Gazi Group to victory with an unbeaten knock of 95 runs along with Seed Anwar Jr. who was also not out with 18 runs.
Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Jatin S Saxena shared one wicket each.
Earlier, Kalabagn Cricket Academy were dismissed at a paltry total of 186 in 47.3 overs after they were forced to bat first by Gazi Group Cricketers.
Jatin S Saxena top scored with 44 runs followed by skipper Mahmidul Hasan 41 and Nuruzzaman 25.
Apart from Alok Kapali’s five wickets for 44 runs, Saeed Anwar Jr. and Mustafizur Rahman bagged two wickets apiece conceding 32 and 37 runs respectively.
Alok Kapali of Gazi Group was named the player of the match for his brilliant bowling performance.
