Kalabagan register 1st win in DPDCL

Kalabagan Krira Chakra finally tasted their first victory in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPDCL) beating defending champions Gazi Group Cricketers by 55 runs held on Saturday at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.
It was their third foreign recruit Pakistan’s Akbar-ur-Rehman whose all-round show made a considerable difference. At first Akbar scored 80 after Kalabagan had slipped to 23 for 3 in the eighth over. In all, he struck seven fours and two sixes in his 111-ball innings, adding 101 runs for the fourth wicket with Taibur Rahman (50) as Kalagan scored a decent total of 232 for 7 from their allotted 50 overs, after they were put to bat first by Gazi Groups Cricketers.
Akbar, who bowls medium-pace, again came to Kalabagan’s rescue when Gazi Group were rebuilding their innings, removing Asif Ahmed in the 27th over with their score on 108 for two. They collapsed quickly, getting bowled out for 177 runs in 45.1 overs to chase the winning target of 233 set by Kalabagan.
Akbar finished with four wickets while off-spinner Sanjit Saha bagged three wickets. For Gazi Group, Opener Imrul Kayes top scored with 74.
