JU teacher sacked over sexual harassment

Jahngirnagar University (JU) authority has sacked one of its teacher for sexually harassing female students.
Sanwar Siraj, an assistant Professor of Department of Government and Politics, was sacked in a syndicate meeting, led by its vice-chancellor Prof Farzana Islam, on Tuesday.
The university acting registrar Rohima Kaniz confirmed the news on Wednesday.
The syndicate took the decision as the university’s anti-sexual harassment cell has proved the charges brought against Sanwar Siraj.
Now, Sanwar Siraj will not be provided any kind of advantages from the university.
A female student of the Department of Government and Politics filed a written complaint to the department’s president against the Professor on September 29, 2019.
The department’s president sent the complaint to the anti-sexual harassment cell on September 25.
