JS session to continue till April 12

The 20th session of the 10th Parliament that began on Sunday afternoon will continue till Thursday (April 12) next.
The decision was taken in a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of the current Parliament held at the Jatiya Sangsad on Sunday. Committee Chairman and

Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury presided over the meeting. The session will start at 5pm on each working day. The meeting also decided that the Speaker may extend or reduce the working days of the current session.
At the outset of the meeting, Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury greeted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with a bouquet as Bangladesh has achieved the eligibility to be graduated to a developing country from the group of least developed countries (LDCs). The Prime Minister said all, especially the people of Bangladesh, deserve the felicitation as it is their achievement.
In the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee, it was informed that this session will deal with a total of 16 government bills and nine undecided private member bills.
Of the 16 government bills, one is under process to be passed, while 11 others are under scrutiny of respective parliamentary standing committees and the committees’ reports on the remaining four bills are waiting for being placed in the House.
A total of 1,227 questions – 63 for the Prime Minister and 1,164 for different ministers-have been found for this session.
Leader of the House and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Opposition Leader Raushon Ershad, HM Ershad, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Abul Hasnat Abdullah, Social Welfare Minister Rashed Khan Menon, Chief Whip ASM Firoz, Law Minister Anisul Huq and Moin Uddin Khan Badal attended the meeting.
The Jatiya Sangsad went into session (20th session) after a 38-day recess as the 19th session was prorogued on February 28 last.
