The 22nd meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Cultural Affairs Ministry suggested holding month-long photo exhibitions and art competitions along with observing national days for increasing readers at public libraries across the country.
The meeting was held at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban on Tuesday with committee President Simin Hossain Rimi in the chair, said an official release here.
Committee members Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, Manoranjan Shil Gopal, Pangkaj Nath and Pinu Khan were present.
Earlier, the meeting paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members who were brutally killed by some disgruntled army men on August 15, 1975, and sought eternal peace of the departed souls.
The meeting urged the pro-liberation people to be united so that such heinous incidents cannot recur in the country.
