The law enforcers arrested at least 550 leaders and activists mainly of BNP and Jamaat on Wednesday, rising the total number of arrestees to 1500 in the last three days, police and local sources said.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) meanwhile launched an operation titled “Dhoro” (catch) on Saturday to arrest BNP and its key ally Jamaat-e-Islami activists.
Dhaka: Police arrested at least 174 people from the different parts of the capital on Wednesday, DMP sources said.
Chittagong: Police arrested at least 106 people of BNP-Jamaat from the different parts of the Chittagong metropolitan area, police said.
Rajshahi: Police arrested at least 48 BNP-Jamaat activists from different places in the city following separate drives.
Sylhet: The law enforcers arrested al least 45.
Khulna: Police arrested at least 44 people from different places in the city.
Syleht: Police arrested at least 24 people from different places in the city.
Barisal: The law enforcers arrested at least 42 people of BNP-Jamaat, including Barisal City Shibir president.
Rangpur: At least 33 BNP-Jamaat men were arrested by the police in the different parts of the city.
Narayanganj: At least 15 BNP leaders and activists were arrested during a clash with the police in the city.
Gazipur: Police arrested over 20 people in the city, police said.
Comilla: At least 13 leaders and activists of BNP and Jamaat the turn were arrested in the town, police said.
Jessore: At least 20 leaders and activists of the BNP-Jamaat men were held in the town.
Jhenidah: Police arrested at least 14 people in the district town.
Sunamganj: Police arrested at least 15 people of BNP-Jamaat from the district town.
Khagrachari: Police arrested at least 20 leaders and activists of BNP-Jamaat in the district town.
Pabna: Police have arrested at least 20 people of BNP-Jamaat in Pabna district. Lakkhipur: Police have arrested at least 20 BNP-Jammat men in the district.
Nilphamari: Police have arrested at least 20 activists of BNP-Jamat in the district town.
Lalmonir Hat: Police have arrested at least 13 activists of BNP-Jamaat in Lalmonir Hat Sadar upazila.
