JS body for easing log jam of pending cases

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry at a meeting here on Thursday recommended a set of measures for structural development alongside providing logistic support, appointing of judges and monitoring activities of the judges to ease log jam of huge pending cases.
The meeting also suggested stopping tendency of leaving workstations by the district judges and giving more attention to discharging duties by them.
The meeting was held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with Committee Chairman Suranjit Sengupta in the chair. It also discussed making modern, time-befitting and efficient the attorney general office and offices of GPs and PPs at the lower courts to turn those into service oriented. The meeting suggested giving importance to quality, education, honesty and efficiency in appointing GPs, PPs and marriage registrars.
Among others, committee members Md Tajul Islam Chowdhury, Sahara Khatun, Md Shamsul Haque Tuku, Md Abdul Majid Khan, Talukder Md Yunus, Advocate Rezaul Haque Mridha and Safura Begum were present at the meeting.
