JPC president’s father dies

Sultan Ahmed Majumdar, former Deputy Secretary, father of News Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) and president of Jatiya Press Club (JPC) Kamal Uddin Sabuj, died of old-age complications at the United Hospital here yesterday afternoon. He was 80, family sources said.
Majumdar left behind his three sons, five daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
The second Namaz-e-Janaza of the deceased was held on the JPC premises after Magrib prayers.
BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Prime Minster’s Media Advisor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, BNP vice president Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, president of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Shawkat Mahood, former JPC president Khandaker Monirul Alam and BNP Joint Secretary General Barkat Ullah Bulu, among others, attended the Namaz-e-Janaza.
Later, his body was taken to his village home at Bashpara under Chagalnaiya upazila in Feni district.
He will be buried at his family graveyard there after third Namaz-e-Janaza at 10.30 am today.
