The students of Jagannath University (JnU) boycotted their exam and classes on Monday in protest against the dismissal of a teacher of English Departmental of the university.
They boycotted their semester examination to protest the expulsion of Professor Nasir Ahmed, a class teacher of the department.
Students of other departments, including Bangla, Political Science, Philosophy and Islamic Studies of Social Science Faculty also joined the boycott.
The protesters hold a rally and procession in
Arts Faculty building from 8:00 am to 3:00pm yesterday. Later, they submitted a memorandum to JnU Vice-Chancellor Professor Mijanur Rahman demanding the withdrawal of Prof. Nasir’s dismissal.
However, JnU authorities claimed that there is no connection of students’ protest with the dismissal of Professor Nasir.
