Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique on Tuesday said students made glorious contributions in each and every historic event of the country since the 1952 language movement and they “gifted us our red and green flag through their heroic participation in our War of Liberation.”
“Students have to be energized with the mentality of selfless service. They have to keep in mind that they are the sons and daughters of the soil soaked with the blood of our martyrs,” he said.
The chief justice said this while addressing a virtual discussion marking the 11th founding anniversary of University of Barisal this afternoon.
Presided over by university Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Sadequl Arefin, the discussion was also addressed by Prof Dr Md Muhsin Uddin, Dr Md Abdul Kaium, Murshid Abedin and Khalid Hasan Kawser, among others.
Earlier in the morning, Professor Dr Md Sadequl Arefin inaugurated the founding anniversary program by releasing colourful balloons. Later floral wreaths were placed at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the university.
