Jhenaidah village clash leaves one killed, 14 arrested

A farmer had at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Thursday morning while he was undergoing treatment there. The deceased was Hafizur Rahman, 42, son of Kayes Mollah of Chandpur village. The police arrested 13 persons for their alleged involvement in the killing incident, the police said.
Sailkupa Police Station officer in charge Tarikul Islam said, two rival groups of the village were locked in a fierce clash on Wednesday afternoon following throwing of mud between two boys during bath in a pond nearest their houses. Later the female guardians of the boys were locked in quarrel which turned to clash among the villagers.
The people with local and sharp weapons appeared in the clash leaving three persons injured. The inured were taken to Jhenaidah general hospital and the attending physicians referred Hafizur Rahman to Dhaka medical college hospital in a critical state.
Hafizur succumbs to his injuries there at about 9.00 in the morning of Thursday. The police have arrested 13 persons in this connection, the police man said.
